Welcome to the SOFA NYC. This year our festival is filled with great delights - wonderful performances, free events, and lots of fun - as well as workshops, master classes and informative demonstrations.
It is a special year for us, one in which we have focused on the SOFA NYC mission not only to bring nationally and internationally renowned artists into our midst, but to give back to the community through free events and community partnerships designed to showcase local artists.
The SOFA NYC is set to enrapture festival lovers once again. Our venue will leave you fascinated, captivated and enthralled. With performances ranging from classic to contemporary, traditional to avant-garde, each act will inspire you to greater heights.
SOFA NYC SOFA, which stands for Sculpture Objects and Functional Art, is an annual art show at the Seventh Regiment Armory in Uptown Manhattan. Over 50 exhibitors from across the world show everything from furniture, ceramics and glass works to innovative lighting designs and tribal art. All are for sale.
In the 1970s and 1980s Mark Lyman, founder of SOFA, became increasingly preoccupied by the fact that the boundaries of art are ever more blurred, the differences between art, object and image being the subject of increasing debate. He started up SOFA to provide a bridge between fine art and decorative arts and to bring them together in one show for the public.…...more!
